What to change along with rear wheel bearings?

Hello I have a problem which is the car tail not stable at high speed it turned to be the rear left wheel bearings , is there other part I must replace or check while replacing the bearings? Any other part that can do such thing ?
Tire are new nexen n fera good grip rear shock less than 20k Miles with new donuts , I don't want to install wheel bearing and drive the car then it suddenly show same symptoms

Check to make sure the rear subframe mounts, bolts are all secured. Maybe grease the axles while you’re at it?

Inner and outer wheel bearings.
Inner and outer races.
Inner wheel bearing seal.
Good quality tub of grease.
Don’t forget about the bearing spacer!
It'll likely be stuck (with grease) on one of the inside edges of the bearings.
***Absolutely*** replace the axle nut AND torque properly to spec!

Your in the area and they are somewhat easy to check and that's the jurid couplers (front & rear) and inspect your center bearing as well. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...g-info-188400/

Thanks to mention that I looked into them they look fine to me though the car is high mileage 120k+ miles

The bearings comes with its races right?
Sure new seals
I used to reuse axle nuts in many cars with medium thread locker without problems

Depends on where you're buying, but sometimes bearings are sold with the race and sometimes without. Just make sure the item you buy lists both parts, it should be very clear if it is or isn't included.

The axle nut is considered to be a single use item, it has threads that will self-destruct eventually (by design). There are stories on here of owners who reused the nut and it failed on the car, allowing the carrier to flop over to 90 degrees and cause a crash. The axle is the upper suspension arm in the rear, so you don't want to take risks with that nut.

If you never replaced, taper roller bearings almost certainly gonna be shot

Yes as I can see the bearings come with its own races
Flop to 90 degree my god no I will get new axle nut this is not a joke and I used to drive 60+ mph . Thanks for mentioning that , but on my Infiniti I refused them without any problem but this might be different and the car is heaver not worth the risk

I would typically agree with reusing the axle nut, however, not on these cars! We’ve had a handful of X308 cars over the years show up on this forum as totaled due to the axle nut decided to quit in the middle of its shift because it wasn’t replaced when a bearing service was recently performed. One of which was a 99’ Supercharged Vanden Plas. Low production numbers car there…

Okay we replaced the inner and outer bearings now the wheel doesn't wobble up n down anymore but right and left
The guy that worked on the car told me it's this part in the diagram number 16 i never seen any x308 with bad taper roller bearing am I the only one with this problem!

I noticed I didn't have the pivot sleeve and the bearings were replaced already probably by previous owner I'm thinking whomever worked on the car probably forgot to install that pivot sleeve also if I install new hub bearings with that pivot sleeve I think all the bearings there will go bad . Lower back pain is not a joke I will collect more info and parts probably will work on this car next 2 weeks I have another car thankfully

Is any play acceptable?
Checked all wheels. No measurable movement but clicks.
LF small click at both 3-9 and 12-6
RF small click at 3-9
LR small click at 3-9 and big click at 6-12
RR no clicks
A mechanic I trust told me those can wait and I'll know when I need to address. Input?

I'd be concerned that they may had forgotten to put the shims back as well....and in proper sequence.

Unfortunately it's more than click in the rear left wheel obviously both hub bearing need replacement will replace both and check will leave for while im using my other car

Little more follow up info that I meant to throw in:

Rear axle nuts are single-use as others stated. There is a softer thread insert on the inside of the nut, kind of like a helicoil, which yields and deforms when the nut is torqued to spec. Once it's removed this insert is deformed and no longer usable. Throw it away and get a new one (ideally before you take the old one off). I think someone has mentioned that the x300 axle nuts fit, and those ARE reusable, but I wouldn't take my word for it, do a bit more research.

The rear hub lower pivot bearings are an *almost* standard part. My notes has them marked as LM11900EA. Note the suffix is critical here, these use a different type of seal which is designed to seal against the bore of the assembly, rather than the lip of the bearing (which has suffix LA). Of course if the Jag PN is in stock and reasonably priced then go with that, but just in case they become NLA, they are available elsewhere. One possible source: LM11900EA
The axle bushing (and particularly the spacers, part number 17 in Silverjag's diagram above) is also critical here for the correct bearing preload, otherwise the bearings will be destroyed quickly. Honestly if it's missing those parts (particularly the spacers, as those are adjusted to set preload properly), I'd just buy a used assembly that has all the correct parts with it and overhaul that, then swap it in place of yours.

Concerning the tapered bearings #16 in the parts diagram…… that lower bolt doesn’t even need to be loosened up much less removed.

I'm thinking to get used hub with all the parts and renewe it as you said I want the axle nut I did some search and found this will fit but nut sure take a look on the pic please

I wouldn't buy a generic nut to replace the axle nut. Just go to a Jag parts place online and order the correct part. They're not cheap.

This is for my 2001 XJR. Just make sure to plug your car into the search parameters, or go someplace like Welshent.com or a Jag parts shop in whatever country you're located in.
