Woke up this morning nice & early-sun was shining, sky was blue, roads were dry-and empty!

Perfect excuse for a spirited drive in the XJR just for the hell of it-I wasn't going to any particular place, just down whichever roads looked tempting for an enjoyable blast to blow the cobwebs off

today i took the rear seats out and replaced my old clock with the nicer version from the '01 model

yesterday... i took the entire dash out. actually surprisingly easy when you have the JTIS manual!

long story short, i'm replacing the old light tan/beige interior with the black interior out of a wrecked car. unfortunately it was LHD, not RHD, so the dash has to come out to be recoloured, other than that, everything is getting swapped.

front seats, back seats, door cards, centre console, glove box, pillars, parcel shelf, even the seatbelts and handbrake cover

then, hopefully, i'll be able to get back into the stereo upgrade, but that's a whole other story

i've taken a few 'before' photos, so i'll post them up with some 'after' ones too, once it's all done

as for the clocks, i'm sure i've seen a thread on here about it before. was hard to find a pic of the old one, but it's the one on the right here:

as you can see, it's white, with numbers
and this is the new one, with chrome marks, and no numbers:

Strange I have the black one (no numbers but chrome) in my 1998, I thought this was the old style clock

The clock with chrome markers was installed in VDPs (mine has it as a stock clock). The one with numbers in white was for regular X308 (my wife's car has it), and my wife wants the one like mine. So I'll get one from a junkyard, it's an easy swap. The one with a white dial is from the Aston Martin (and I don't care for it).

My '98 XJR has the one with chrome markers and no numbers, I like it better than the one with #'s. Classier I think, and ir looks like a clock not a gauge,

I just purchased the inner door handle assembly (driver's door) on Ebay. My door handle decided to quit working last night (still opens the door, but it doesnt want to retract in it's "shell"). Probably the spring popped, and it could've been fixed after taking it apart, but if not, I'd be forced to drive something else until the new one comes (driving without the door panel is not my style, and taking the door panels on and off is a pain). So now the Cat is still driveable, and we'll take the door panel off when the new handle comes from England. $17 plus shipping, if you wonder.

It's also faster to read at a glance with the numbers.

so funny thing happened, started the car up yesterday, and the CEL light is off, it had a Random Misfire saved on it. so now either the computer can delete codes (never knew it could) or CEL light bulb blew out

Some codes will reset after "x" amount of no-fault conditions.
