Removed the cowl, sanded and repainted it. Funny how there was little sun damage anywhere else on the car. Easy job tho. About the last cosmetic item will be to have the drivers side seat bolster repaired. I already have a piece of matching leather, just need to find time to drop it off at the trimmers.

Default Console Lid

Hi all, I'm looking to switch the console lid/armrest of my '98XJR from non cup holder to cup holder - it would seem to be a straight swap. Does anyone know if it is and if its as straight forward as it looks?

Default Broken antenna mast

When I bought my XJR, it's antenna mast would not retract all the way. Bought one on eBay and checked this forum on antenna r&r how to. The explanations made the whole operation a breeze. I had a friend turn the radio on and off to help with install. This forum is great! P.s. my next project is to tackle telescoping steering wheel issue. After I fix that, the car will be perfect!

A straight forward job Rob ;o)
just be careful witht he little screws that hold the check arm to bottom of the armrest.
The arm rest is held on to the centre console with screws at the hinge end.
Just make sure you choose one that has a working cup holder....a great majority of which are useually broken by some ham fisted klutz ;o))
make sure when you replace it that the arm rest is aligned squarely and operates the catch properly ;o))

Did you check the functipon of the rest of the mechanism while you were aty it?
Use the key and lubricate the key mechanism with electronic spray cleaner
and check the wiring.
That's a gorgeous colour what's it called?

In the second picture, that is not uneven wear on the pads. That is a chamfer cut into all pads as new.

Default Finally

Finally got around to installing RealGauge after it sat on my shelf since last December. Amazed at how straight forward the instal was. I uploaded instructions on my iPad for easy follow. I opted not to put numbers on the gauge face. Took me several hours because I cleaned every part plus double and triple checked all wires before splicing. BTW, I had a clanking notice coming from what I thought was the steering wheel. Turned out the sound was made by lose clip retainers for the wood front cluster trim. Strongly recommend. Perhaps the Least expensive and most sensible upgrade you can do for your X308.

Gave my XJR it's first wash under my ownership. Took me 3 hours for a pre wash, foam, 2 bucket wash, clay, another wash and then a dry. It looks a darn sight better now, just need to give it a polish and then a good coat of wax next.
