What did you do to your X308 Today?
After 2 years, owning a JAGUAR, I found out you can raise and lower the windows using the KEY.
Holding the key in the LOCK position (windows up) or UNLOCK position (windows down).
Shame it doesn't work from the FOB. I used to drive a 7 series, which did. It was a great party trick.
I will have to keep myself happy with flashing the headlights from a great distance.
Today I pulled both of the heads off of my Jag to replace head gaskets and found that indeed I do have to pull the rest of the engine to rebuild the lower end. There was about a quarter inch of rod play at cyl #1. Looks like I'm gettin' into both ends of this pretty lady...

Woke up at 5am yesterday to go for a super early sunday hoon with some fellow petrolheads in the Yorkshire Dales. Had the biggest car out of the lot, and the heaviest but it did well. Was a bit of a struggle on some of the winding roads though. One of the real problems is the kind of speeds an XJR can get to without you realising!
either method closes the sunroof as well.

I have not tried this one, now I have to go out to my car....
I finally have the arm rest at a upholstery shop getting recovered. I purchased the leather on Ebay and took it to the shop. That was a waste of money. There was not enough leather to wrap properly. The shop actually asked me to come by and take a look and they were correct. What was good is they said they would match it 100% with Jaguar leather and recover for $125.00. Cant go wrong there.
Next project is all 4 shocks. At 111K I think I am due. Car still rides like a dream.

Replaced the worn upper shock mount bushings. Huge improvement in stopping a front-end shimmy. New shocks next (come on UPS). Then the front sway bar bushings.
Took it up to DC for Mothers Day: slight shimmy at 85 (harmonic varies depending on road surface); 23 mpg over the 450 miles!!

Had the front discs machined. Again.
Went to a brake specialist shop this time, and they were very rude about local garages who don't clean the rust off the hubs and don't accurately torque up the wheels. We'll see if they're right....

My Garfield had a new gold fur put on over the last two weeks. Came home yesterday, and I detailed it today. Looks like new, and drives like a limo. What a car! 15 year old car, that I wouldn't trade for a new one.
Been enjoying commuting in my XJ8 after not driving it for a month -- long story that's chronicled in another thread! Short story -- replaced thermostat tower, heater hoses, knock sensor, crossover pipe, part load breather, manifold gaskets, coolant overflow hoses, and "ta-da!" the thermostat! Feels like I have a new car!
It's been one year of ownership and the car has been problem free except for throwing an amber MIL once because of the gas cap. We drove it yesterday and I washed the exterior.
I suppose it's time for an oil change.

Replaced the front shocks with new Bilsteins. Hour and a half and $85 per (allshocks/Turner Motorsport). JTIS says you need to remove swaybar link, nah. But it is easier to remove the old shock if you take off the upper shock mounts.
Ride is getting better and better. Front sway bar bushings next -- as soon as I locate a decent instruction (JTIS appears overly complicated). Rear shocks next up.
Saw a quote here about bonding with your Jag, appreciated. Also bonding with a 24 volt impact driver!!
