Found top grade/1200 gsm micro fiber towels in the ever coveted BRG, call me pedantic lol. Car's in the best local Euro indy shop getting the rear end diagnosed for that evasive creak/knock.

Went out yesterday with the intent of backing it up on ramps to start looking at the evap system, thinking that if I could spot the culprit, might make it easier to sell without an engine light....

and promptly snapped the shift mechanism due to a frozen transmission cable. It had been a little rusty prior, but it always freed up after minor effort. Not today. Snap. So the little white piece that feeds the linear switch and notches into the shift lefter snapped in pieces. I got under the car today to try to remove the cable, and have run into a snag where the nut on the end of the shift bracket on the transmission case is just spinning. Not sure how easy that's going to be to maneuver any thing into there to try to keep it solid, so I gave up for this weekend. Pulled the for sale sign off, since at this point, it's no use taking less and less just because of the issues it's creeping up with. Sad part, is I spent most of yesterday replacing calipers and pads and issues with my son's mustang, and I still have to get the Sentra up in the air so I can try to get to the crank position sensor sometime this week. Wanted to sell the Jag specifically because I was sick of having to work on so many things as it is, and now I end up having to work on it anyway even to try to get rid of it. Not a fan this weekend..

Wow Len1957, that's some corrosion!

Well done with your repairs, curse that UK weather and extensive salt usage.

Oil change, S/C inspection and transmission fluid level inspection on the XJR. I was having some hesitation and scared to death I had succumbed to the dreaded curse of daring to opening up the MB 5G tronic to change the fluid and filter, even though fluid wasn't too dirty and no metal shavings in pan. However after the oil change and adding some techron to the tank running smooth as ever. Transmission fluid is spot on at temperature with no leaks, shifting smooth with no hesitation.

Shop called & the "knuckle" on that side has a failing bearing/bushing.

I'm going to get a better explanation in writing when I pick it up this week. Good news is they found the damn coolant leak that 2 other "shops" couldn't locate. Was losing 3-5 ounces of coolant every 500-600 miles with no visible clues. It was a hose on the bottom side of the engine.

Anyone have a large printable diagram of the rear hub/spindle/knuckle I can take & get them to elaborate better. As I think terminology w/ them being lifelong southern guys is adding some murk to the picture. "Bushings & knuckle" threw me for a loop over the phone.

Glad the nuisance coolant leak's being addressed though.

So I took that diagram & printed out this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post1567209

They're confident they can do the procedure per the forum thread. So I'm going to order the tapered bearing & components & have an appt. for the 20th to get it done.

The coolant leak was heater hose/NCA3945CD underneath the intake, they also found some missing bolts on the intake boot & addressed that.

Jag forums strike yet again w/ clutch esoteric info. !

Did another dyno pull. Now makes 337/329 at the wheels with the Mina intake and 1.5lb+ pulley.

Also installed some HIDs. Was sick of not seeing at night.

Looks like the MPH limiter kicked in, you should post a pic of the speedo at 170 mph

I'm not usually a fan of stickers and decals, but this one caught my eye and I thought I'd try it.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-Chro...AAAOSw4UpckWhQ

The decal is a quality item, made of chromed metal with an adhesive backing. Simply peel the metal decal from it's backing, place it where you want it, then peel off the top transparent sheeting.

If you look around inside the car the only place it actually says "Jaguar" is on the cassette tape door, (oh, and the clock) so I thought this one belonged on the passenger burled walnut airbag panel. I think it looks really nice and I think it adds something to the car (IMHO of course)

Nice touch Carnival Kid,

I had ordered them before from Poland (search on site of ebay Germany), they also have besides the 60mm,an identical, more subtile 30mm variant.

For European owners :

Thanks for that link..............at just 1 3/16" that smaller one is tiny indeed but definitely a cool item that could be used in several subtle places.

I took photos of the trunk and under-hood fuse boxes, named the relays and printed copies on photo paper, and then pasted them on the inside of the fuse box lids.
Just makes for a quick reference if/when needed.

Managed to wiggle the dash lights that sit in the air con unit and get them to light up again. Saves buying the led versions.

Dash board bulbs

Back of air con unit

Also welded the rear wings, just in time for the weather.
Grind out the rusty bits , weld in new material, grind down the welds, skim with body filler to perfection hopefully, prime, paint.
Quite a lot of work and I still need to go into the boot and make sure the inside has rust converter where it needs it. Sealer is in the way everywhere though.

Lots of grinding helps improve the welding :-)
