Cleaned MAFS and TBS with CRC products from Amazon.
Checked the connections and fixed clip on Air Filter Box.
Test drove early this am and extremely pleased with results .
Do not know if the CRC products gave the improved results or the correct clamping of Air Filter Box with the fixing of the front {inner} clip .
Do know the acceleration whine has gone.
My thanks to previous posters who pointed the way!

Just got Wicked back from the mechanic on Friday. Took her on a long and fast drive down the interstate. So happy to have her back! Also, stopped at the car wash for a quick bath. Detailing next week.

This weekend I started detailing the engine compartment. A lot of work! I plan to work on it slowly and take my time. Hoping to enter in in a concours next summer.

Took the wife for a very fast drive down the interstate. Her first! Didn't let her drive. Not going to happen!

Last week I cleaned car for family road trip up north. Just got back this past weekend, lost one ignition coil on the way home but was able to limp it to a parts store that had one in stock, 15 mins and back on the road.

Some pics to liven this place up.

Ok phase 1 in operation : Revitalize is in motion Safelite's here tomm. for the windshield replacement. Found a mint grill on E-Bay & leaper, still waiting on a local guy to come & give me a detailed estimate. I'm no body guy but I'm hoping that everything can be straightened out minus the trunk lid(which I've found one in a salvage yard) just for kicks I'm going to have a paint less dent repair guy come look @ the fenders & roof(the roof is rippled like hail damage) Pics are best I can muster w/ this old loaner phone. I was pondering letting her go but I just can't bring myself to do it lol.

Not an L or a vanden, just a lot of add-ons.

The wheels are 18" Coventry Hornets. I think it was around $1500 for wheels/tires. More here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/w...00-xj8-116418/

What did I do yesterday? I broke the #@%&ing cupholder while cleaning the inside of the windshield. I didn't even have it open ... just leaned a bit against the center console while wiping the windshield and *SNAP* there goes the hinge. I almost saved the little piece that cracked off so that I could have a go at gluing it back together, but then it fell down a the crack behind the ashtray hinge.

What else did I do yesterday? Ordered a new #@%&ing cupholder off eBay. Good god that's an overpriced piece of junk.

The other thing I did yesterday? Cussed a lot. Much of it involved the parentage of the engineer who designed that #@%&ing cupholder.

I put the HO2S sensor from my scrap 1998 XJR into my 2001 XJR (after soldering the right connector onto it) only to find that it didn't fix the P1647 after all. Seems the 2001 sensors are 4 Ohms and the 98 ones are 8 Ohms.

Second job: ordered a 4 Ohm sensor off ebay.

Talulah, as a rule you should not be soldering oxygen sensor wires.

Oxygen sensor wires draw in air along the strands of the wire and will fail prematurely if soldered.

Talking Nice Pics

Probesport, beautiful car and great job of detailing it. But, check out the last picture in your series above - it looks like the pipes coming off the header tank are not crossed. This has caused problems for some people. Check it out. Cheers.

You're right - they are supposed to connect to the header tank as shown in this pic...

Probesport - you might want to address this.
