I just had the gearshift replaced in my 1998 XJ8 VDP, and when I picked it up, the mechanic handed me this, after the install. He did not know what they did, and both micro switches are broken.
The car shifts beautifully and other than my ongoing, intermittent ABS/traction warning lights, everything seems perfect.
Do they have ANYTHING to do with the ABS in relation to the shifter?

any idea what the micro switches do or did?

 

PARK and NEUTRAL for selector lever.
