Cool windshield scratches

Hey all, I need to know some recommendations for removing wiper arm shadows from my windshield. Obviously the PO let the wiper blade just disintegrate before he replaced it because there are 4 shadows perfectly aligned with the top two bows on the wiper arm. Is there a Jaguar approved polishing fluid with which to remove these shadows (or for that matter a member approved fix)? I just finished the thermostat housing/water outlet tower upgrade to aluminum (many thanks to all of you and your posts about the tips and tricks to doing this...I simply heated and bent an old 8mm box wrench to break them loose and then used a short open end to finish turning them out...it was a bit "fiddly" as the Brits would say, but the job was not too bad.) and I'm now starting on the cosmetic items on the car. This one is the most glaring. I am also in need of an antenna mast grommet if anyone knows where to get one. Thanks for all the past help and all your future help. Happy motoring all.

i would try rubbing compound by hand first and a buffing machine with a wool pad and compound if that didnt work.

Cool Well...

Worst case scenario is replacing the windshield. This is one of the few bargain priced items on our car. Safelite used to replace them for just under $200. Instant quote just quoted me $288.95 which still isn't bad.

Hi
You should be able to purchase the Grommet at your local Jaguar dealership. The price should be under $5.00. Ask for them if they stock it and the price.

The part number for Aerial Sealing Grommet is LMD4131AA. The retail price on Gaudin Jaguar Parts website is $3.60 (discount price is $2.93) plus $12.95 shipping.

It is also on Ebay item #370148352408 for $5.95 plus $1.59 shipping (captain-jaguar). See photo of Grommet in Ebay listing.

I also found it on the Ebay UK for you UK forum members - item number is 360339624271 (car-masts-uk) 3.95 pounds plus 1.95 pounds shipping cost.

In EBay UK item description - "It is a Jaguar Original Equipment part as supplied by Harada", also says "Jaguar recommends the grommet is replaced if the aerial is removed and replaced"

Good luck with the windshield scratches. I have tried everything to include just about every commercially available scratch removal "kit". If you discover something that works, please pass the information on to the rest of us...

I just replaced my windshield about 2 weeks ago due to a large crack from a rock. I was debating it anyways because it was so foggy to look through. Boy am I glad I got a crack. I found as mentioned above it was only $226 installed and now I can see at night like it's a new car! I was shocked at the price. The installer said if it had the rain sensor, it would have been closer to $600.

Hi
Our Jag front windshield got cracked during the first month after we bought the car at the auction. We have full glass coverage with our auto insurance company. They replaced the rain sensor windshield at no cost to us. Full glass coverage is included and is provided at no additional cost in our AARP Hartford personal auto insurance policy premium.

Most companies give you the free rock fix -- worth about $75.00 -- others will provide full glass replacement regardless of your comprehensive deductible. This is required in some states -- so it is in all that states policies and not a gift from the company.

The various differences often make purchasing insurance policies a bit difficult -- and many just purchase on price.

I don't think you will have much luck with polishing the glass.

Using a soft wiper blade and keeping the glass clean is the best defense
