Wiring connector on top of fuel tank
Hi gents,
I'm having an intermittent problem with getting power to the fuel pump. The problem appears to be the connect on the harness that connects to the tank fitting. The connector has 4 wires...fuel pump and level sensor. I've looked at SNG Barrett and can't seem to find a connector. Can you guys point me to a part number?
Thanks and take care,

There is a fuse after the relay and not before . The 4 wire connector is for 2 fuel pumps in a supercharged engine . May have a floating relay as you can swap them if the some marked part #

The connector is part of the harness running towards the cabin. Your best source is going to be a wrecking yard or log onto www.jagbits.comand send a parts request with the photo to them. Dan is really good on unusual parts and will get back to you within a day.
Have you checked the grounds ?

I did check the grounds and I can make the pump shut down by 'wiggling' the connector. Looking into the face of the connector, one of the terminals looks damaged...
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you look at the connector do you see any part numbers as mine is X300 and may be different . Pump side look OK ? I think there was a upgraded pigtail that had a noise suppressor in it that may be used and not have to get the whole harness . I could be wrong as this is the case on the X100 .

Hey there!
I drive a 1999 Jag x308 NA 4.0 L with the single fuel pump setup.
My biggest headache with this car has been with the fuel pump. Three years back the fuel pump died and I had it replaced along with the inside the tank wiring. Eight months later, it died again. One year later, the fuse box inside the trunk burned up and all components powered therein... stopped having power (including the fuel pump). After having the fuse box replaced all was well until I was stranded at a grocery store, and again, I didn't hear the whine of the fuel pump kicking on.
After having it towed to a shop, my mechanic found the connection atop the fuel pump to be loose, because the car started fine upon arrival to his shop. He found with the car running that if he wiggled the connection, he could get the pump to cut in and out. So he bent one of the pins, suggested I replace the fuel carrier piece of the tank, but said it worked just fine for now.
Over the last two years, periodically I've had to wiggle the connection or pry a pin to improve the contacts when I'd be surprised with a no start condition.
So yesterday I took a chance. I did some research on re-pinning car electrical connectors through YouTube and some articles. I purchased a universal pin/receptacle kit for less than $30, some crimpers and wire strippers, and I attempted to re-pin the harness side of the connection (not the top of the fuel tank). I pulled off the white connector, used a small flathead screwdriver to pry out the orange insert (this is a locking tab) from within the connector. I then used a very thin flathead to disengage the white locking tabs holding the pin in place and pulled the wire to remove the pin. I clipped off the old pin receptacle, stripped the wire, and crimped on a new matching pin receptacle. I then reinserted the receptacles into the connector until I heard the audible clicks of the locking tabs, reinserted the orange locking tab, and reattached the connector to the top of the fuel tank. When comparing the old and new receptacles, it was visible that the old receptacles had bent open slightly.
Upon startup I wiggled the wires, pulled on the connector, and did my best to try and disturb the connection. None of these attempts worked as I could hear the whine of the fuel pump without fail.
I hope this information helps!
