Default X308 police package

Was there ever such a thing as a "police package" for the X308?

I don't know if any X308's were donated by Jaguar to the Police forces in the UK, but I do know there were several special Ministry of Defence models built by SVO department. These were basically Jaguar branded Super V8s and had bomb proofing, bullet protection and their own oxygen system for chemical attacks. They also had strobes and sirens built into them. You can see on footage of the Prime Minister from about 1998 to as late as 2009 being driven round in an X308.

I know there were a few X300s used in Emergency Service Roles such as fire response cars and as police cars. In the UK the police are normally given vehicles by manufacturers rather than buying them which is why the police "Panda Cars" are normally woefully underpowered Vauxhall's or Hyundai's. The Traffic police normally have bigger Volvos, BMW and in the case of a couple of lucky police forces Jaguar XF's.

Here's a thread I started on the subject many moons ago: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...b-proof-40599/

Yes, in past excursions through the files loaded by IDS there have
been some interesting hints.

Loading the associated files to the vehicle might be *cough* interesting

If it won't cause any other issues why not experiment? I know the standard XJR cars are fast, but ones designed to get the Queen out of trouble? I can imagine there would be some performance enhancements to compensate for the added weight of the bomb proofing.

There were normal "highway" cars in police trim... So why not be a police package?

When I diagnose the X350 with IDS I always get the question...
B6 armor plating fitted?? (FITTED, NOT FITTED)

That is the only strange modification I have ever seen listed.

Guess if you answer yes on that one, it will skip trying to find
the power window modules

Well for the X350 the B6 armour meant no air suspension fitted, which is why I assumed the question get's asked by SDD, so it doesn't waste time with the air suspension side of things.

There was probably a UK Police Pack for the X308, but don't ask me what makes it so special.

Can you imagine the rate of failure if they had tried air suspension
with body armour?

The dealer details input screen on IDS/SDD shows some interesting
possibilities if London is selected. Various ministries are presented
as possible "dealers" including Defense, Customs & Excise,
and National Security.

a) buy Aston Martin
b) figure out VIN matches for the James Bond vehicles

Wonder if SAS ever used the XJR as pursuit vehicles.

In every armored vehicle I've been in, and I've been in at least 10+, all of them had stationary windows - HVAC was the only means of getting air into the car while it was moving.

Is that something that applies to all armored vehicles?

Actually, they moved them to the front as donut trays

Didn't know we had a head smashing icon ... useful for
ethanol and oil viscosity rebuttals.
