Default x308 Stuck Fuel Filler Door

Opening a stuck x308 Fuel filler Door:
Easy fix: cycle through lock / unlock.

Posting this thread for easier search.Credit for fix goes to Plums, post#2 in the below thread:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...uel+door+stuck

If you do this while outside of car with doors closed, first make sure you have black fobbed key on your person.
Lock all doors, unlock all doors. the fuel fill door mechanism should reset upon locking and unlock with all doors.
If you happen to be by the fuel filler door when cycling through lock / unlock, you will hear the mechanism engage when you press lock.
Then when you press unlock twice, you will hear the sweet sound of the doors, trunk, and fuel door mechanisms unlock.

Thank you Plums
Thank you Sir Jags for your original post in 2011

Happy to have this opportunity to contribute some very small value
Been following the forum for the last 5 years, 2 years in search of the right Jag and 3 years into ownership of my 02 VDP
Such great info and incredible community.
Upon encountering my first Jag issue, a little searching and found this fix.

Thanks again all of you!

You can also open the trunk, peel back the carpeting in the fuel filler area, and actuate it manually if the motor dies.

It would also be wise to just grease up the rod that goes through the rubber drain cup under the filler lid. Rubber shrinks over time.

I got tired of playing with it, so just disabled it. Trying to siphon gas out of
that opening is like trying to find diamonds in a trash heap.

Yes, the actuator sometime goes bad. Happened on two of my cars. Replaced it with a used one and no problems for a number of year since.
