XJ8 Sport - 155 MPH
Hi there,
as I finally straightened out all my DTC issues and the car ran without any problems or fault codes for nearly a week I took her on the Autobahn yesterday to check her potential.
The "Bahn" as we say over here was dry and pretty empty so I put her in "S-mode" and floored the pedal.
Accelleration was okay. Not as breathtaking as my former BMW though (a 12 cylinder 7-series E38) but for a car with that elegance I was quite impressed.
At around 250 km/h (~155 MPH) and the rpm's still not in the "red zone" obviously the limiter got involved.
The RPMs suddenly dropped a notch and the Jag wouldn't accelerate any further.
I could clearly feel that there was potential to go faster but I guess the Englishmen that developed that car thought that 250km/h was fast enough for it.
So I'm a little bit disapointed about that limit up there even if I doubt that my car would be driven that fast very often.
I love to cruise and get a good mileage out of her and that's the way I usually drive her.

It was a "Green" deal major car firms had with Europe. A lot of Mercedes, BMW, VW, etc have all got a top speed of 150-155 limited.
I draw your attention to this video:

But in the UK it is very difficult to ever see your speedo touch the limit, unless you happen to own a runway. :/

It's not my video but the rev meter in my car behaved exactly the same.
So it's quite normal I guess.
@ Sean
I suppose the only one to change the software would be the Jag-dealer?
But I guess they would either completely refuse to do such a change or charge me a fortune for doing so.
I think it's just a regular XJ8 with a stiffer suspension and the XJR mesh-grille.
(Looks like an XJR but has no SC.)
