XJR 2002 Idle / acceleration issue
Hello,
I have got p1229. Car was standing for past 4-5 years. Cleaned everything around TB, changed plugs, some gaskets and even TPS sensor. Response to throttle 4x times slower than it should be. All intake tubes, breathers and etc in place and no cracks. Hands down…

- Throttle Motor Disconnection or Poor Connection: Check if the throttle motor is disconnected at its plug or has a poor connection. Ensure that the electrical connectors are securely attached. If necessary, clean the connectors with electrical contact cleaner to remove any corrosion that might be causing false codes1.
- Wiring Issues: Inspect the wiring to the throttle motor for any shorts or open circuits. Damaged or frayed wires can lead to fault codes. If you find any issues, repair or replace the wiring as needed.
- Throttle Motor Failure: If the throttle motor itself has failed, it may need replacement. While the motor might not be available as a standalone item, you could explore options from a breaker or specialized Jaguar parts suppliers.

You’re right! I guess I can’t read today. My bad!
Try swapping the throttle body relay with a less important one such as a rear fog light relay. Check power supply voltage at the TB connector and ground resistance from the same connector to the body.

Yes. Changed filter. Spark plugs etc. No leaks. I believe that it will be a failing throttle motor itself. I have found out that most of the parts fit from 3.2 TB. I will check maybe there is possibility to change only TB motor without taking out and changing whole TB.
I changed the TB in my XJR with out of a N/A car. From memory there was the throttle cable bracket, one plate on the back (couple of bolts) with a hose attached & something else equally minor to swap between them. It's probably as easy to fit a whole TB as try to swap the motors.
