Default XJR suspension and brake light issues

Thanks in advance everyone, i have been on here looking up information

and can't believe the knowledge and camaraderie. Have had my XJR looked at

and will get the laundry list of problems tomorrow but can't wait. I have been

told the worst is the suspension. New shocks and mounts needed on all four

corners at over $300 each. I read on here that problems with the actual shocks

on the XJR with adaptive suspension (cats) are not very common and it's

usually the mounts or something else. Is this true? Also, i have no reverse or

brake lights. Fuses and bulbs checked and the relay is picking up. Lost and

in love with my Jag and want to show her off properly without issues.

Depends on your mileage on the shocks. My 03 XJR has CATS and before a mishap, they were shot anyways. So I'm putting on normal bilstein shocks on all 4 myself($400 total) and disconnecting the cats module. While you do it... Change the upper and lower shock bushings and sway bar bushings.

As for the light, check the connection for corrosion.

If ur 3rd brake light is working and ur others are not then the security module is bad. I had to bypass toget brake lights.

Mine does have a ton of miles. Does it change the handling and ride much?

Also which Bilsteins are you using and do you get an error message with the module disconnected? And i will check for corrosion. Thanks

You hit the nail on the head. I have the 3rd brake light without the others plus

no reverse lights. Thanks, love this forum.

Zero error messages. Simply unplug it and done.

I'll take a pic of the module, you just press the locking clip back and swing it up an inch or two and it disconnects it from power.
