Hey Jag lovers, I'm new to this car and have no idea what to do about my problem. I just bought this car and it takes me like 3-4 times to start my car, any ideas what it could be?

 

What condition are the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter and fuel filter in? How does it run once it starts? More info needed

 

I just did the spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter. Haven't done the Wires or cap and rotor yet. When I changed the plugs, they were covered in oil, I know this is bad! When it starts it runs fine, but it almost seems like it lacks power or acceleration, but it does drive fine.

 

The car doesnt smoke either

 

Compression test?
First dry then a shot of oil in the spark plug holes?

it might be the fuel regulator leaking back to the tank. causing yer to have to 'prime 'the fuel system before it will start.

and a worn rotor arm causing the lack of power.
