'89 Automatic Seatbelts
Have had my XJ6 for about 3.5 weeks. We are chipping away at the issues we and/or the mechanic have found.
The car has the automatic seatbelts that were around in the '80s, but surprise surprise one doesn't work. All fuses are fine, so that isn't the problem. Looking at the manual, apparently these vehicles came with a "temporary hook" that you could hang to use the shoulder restraint. Of course the vehicle doesn't have them any longer. Does anyone have an idea on how I can get my hands on one (or two) of them? I'd rather deal with the other things going on and just let that go, but I want a shoulder restraint for passengers as well.
Thanks for any ideas. Still enjoying the car greatly. It's a keeper. Mechanic told me previous owner(s) must have really loved it as it is in the best shape of any XJ40 he has seen in some time.

Yes, I am not the greatest fan of the automatic restraint system either, but if I can find these hooks anywhere I am sure it will be much cheaper than opening it up.
I didn't mind them so much back in the day I think, but it seems like back then folks didn't wear seatbelts as readily as they do now, so that was probably the reasoning.
Have had a few positive comments in only limited driving, so I'm not alone in thinking she looks pretty good.

Here are 2 old TSBs for you. One is a fault finding chart.
I know that the system is warrantied for the life of the vehicle, but I don't think you can find the parts from Jaguar anymore. You might call a few dealers to see if they have any New-Old-Stock.
