I have a 94 XJ6 with the single button remote. It didn’t do this before but some how and just recently the alarm chirp has changed.

It used to do one noise when locking and slightly different noise when when unlocking and if I he’d the button down it would do a panic of sorts.

I know some of the cars had unlock and all the windows would go down and I’ve had it do a lock and leave the lights on for a minute but never found good info on the how this works and since I rarely lock the car at home it’s never been a big deal.

Now and kid you not it’s changed the tone and sounds like a clown horn. Literally something out of a circus and it sounds ridiculous and it’s the same for lock and unlock Does anyone have a clue about this or information on the full functionality of these Alarms?

Dear Herschel Shmoikel, Mine has always made the same sound for lock and unlock, very "distinctive" for sure ...I always have the alarm switched off, don't know if that makes any difference ...this clown sound, what is that exactly?

Maybe that's what mine sounds like? hard to say!
