Default Alarm chirp or lack of

My alarm/remote locking works fine but the chirp when locking or double chirp when unlocking is very very quiet. Is this normal or is there a way to make it louder?

Mine's gotten a bit quieter too. I imagine the chirp box can degrade over time, and be replaced. Of course, you know what they say about hearing and ageing!

Chirp, what chirp? You can barely hear mine, and only if you are standing right next to the car. On most vehicles, the horn makes a very quick sound. That, you can hear.

Lol. True. My problem is my parking lot at work is near a major road and with the traffic you have to be right at e car to hear it. At home no big deal

I am sorry. There seems to be an inverse correlation between the noise level of the chirp and the value of the car.
Nothing disturbs the peace more than these tatty little cars with their blaring alarm confirmation. As if it matters, it's so '90s.
Your chirp is a Jaguar chirp, understated.
There I got it off my chest.

I know! I'll open the chirp box, remove the old, worn out chirper from it, and replace it with a young, excited chirper who will cost less and do a better job!

My wife's XJ8 doesn't chirp at all. We are the second owners, so I don't know if it ever did???

I SOOOO agree with Dan R - - - obnoxious noises and Jags just don't go together.

Hi, my 97 model only does the light thing also, NO chip or noise at all......other than the sound of the door locks engaging. Mysterious it would seem.

Count me in on those that enjoy the sophisticated, subtle Jaguar alarm chirp.

Boy you guys take something that wasn't even said and run with it don't 'cha

I was simply wondering if there was a way to increase the volume of the existing chirp...I NEVER said to make it crazy loud or include the horn. So keep your uptight bristish underwear in place. Jeesh

I think we're all just getting older and the old hammer, anvil and stirrup aren't pounding as hard as they used to!

The indicator lights should flash at the same time as the chirp. This is useful for noisy environments.

Make sure you check with the union first.
