I would go for the XJ40 hands down , the late model XJ40s seem pretty reliable over the earlier ones .Those two cars extremely different more than a night vs day difference lol

agreed. do a little searching on this forum i know theres some older XJ40 ones that mention how the last couple years were much better than ealier ones. As far as XJS's go that not my expertise dept. lol. Id still say go with XJ40 since your out of the 80's crazy electrical problems. Not saying you wont have problems but there will be a heck of a lot less thats for sure! Mines for sale btw...
Yeah it would be my daily driver. Thanksfor the input.....do you guys know anything about the jx4.0 haveing a light puff of smoke at start up. The car has 119,000 miles. I know we didn't worry about it in ole chevy motors.
Thanks

Very common with the start up puff. It's the valve stem seals. Don't worry about it. XJ40 is far more reliable than the V12, better gas mileage to boot. When this do go wrong, it's not cheap to fix unless you compare it to the price of fixing a V12 car!
