ABS pump not letting fluid to one brake.
Hi all I'm looking for some advice regarding a 1990 Jaguar XJ6 2.9 . The abs pump is not letting fluid to the front near side brake calliper , resulting in it pulling hard to one side braking . The caliper as been changed as it was in a poor state . But struggling one in finding a replacement online and 2 , somebody who is prepared to try and repair/refurbish. Any help or advice would be appreciated 🙏. The car as low mileage for its age [28k] so assuming a valve may be stuck possibly ?? Is there anything else I could do that could possibly solve the problem? Regrds SimonV#
Hi Simon
You are asking this question in the wrong part of this forum.
The X300 runs from 1994 to 1997
Your 1990 Jag is an XJ40
I suggest you ask that question in that forum.
Cheers

Hi SimonV#,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums. It's great to have you with us!
The first question that comes to mind is this: in addition to replacing the front near side caliper, did you also replace the flexible brake hose? A common problem is that when the caliper corrodes and seizes internally, the hose also corrodes internally, leading to the collapse of the steel reinforcement braid inside the rubber hose.
Another thing you can check for is corrosion or kinking of the brake pipe between the ABS modulator and the flexible hose.
Failure of the ABS modulator is not impossible, but is probably not as likely as a problem with the hose or pipe.
Cheers,
Don

I agree with Don.
It is most likely a brake hose causing the problem.
Your car is 35 years old and brake hoses have a definite life. They develop arteriosclerosis.
They fail inwards blocking the brake fluid.
I recently had a hose blockage failure in my S3 XJ6 only about 3 years older than your car and ended up replacing all 3 of my flexible brake hoses.
