Default Code 39 (EGR temp sensor)

MIL light came on and I got a 39 EGR Temp Sensor code. Does this mean that the EGR should taken apart and cleaned?

No it means that the EGR temp sensor did not see the rise in temp when the ECM commanded the EGR to open. Have you downloaded the engine management guide publication S-91 I uploaded a while ago????

The passage (EGR to intake) gets clogged with burnt oil and blocks the exhaust gases from flowing.

The oil filter is in the way to get good access to the sensor.

Probably lot's of info if you do a search.

Could also be a failed EGR valve or vacuum fault but you need to diagnose so you don't waste time and money.

Yes I did download S-91 but the info from personal experience available on the forum is invaluable also. Between the two there is no problem I can't beat like a Red headed step child and keep my cat on the street, where it belongs.

Thanks
