Default continues to run with key removed

Hello. I have a 1988 xj6. The car starts fine and runs. When I turn the key off and remove it the car still runs (its not dieseling from carbon) and the dash lights and radio stay on. When I unplug the ignition switch with the car running it continues to run. to get it to turn off I pull the ignition relay on the passenger side dash. I swapped that relay and still the same. I don't think its a bad igniton switch because when I turn the key to accessory position 2 the windows go up and down and turn the key back they wont work. I also swapped the relay called "main relay" and no difference. Any ideas? I was thinking its a wire touching ground constanstly… thank you.

You can look at a diagram of the ignition system in the stickies at the top of this area. It sounds like you have done a fair amount of diagnosis already. Did this problem start suddenly? I suggest checking the wiring in the engine bay for breaks or ( god forbid) chew marks. Also and as always check grounds. Sorry I can't help more..

Yea it just started randomly. I looked at the schematic and it looks pretty simple. Still cant figure this out. Ill have to look for a wire. thank you.
