Hello, I need some advice. I installed the original radio into my XJ40 3.2S, year 1993. It works, the antenna comes up, it receives the signal, and the CD player works. However, the sound only comes from the rear speakers, and the quality is terrible. I replaced the rear speakers with contemporary JVC coaxial 30W speakers, but the sound quality has hardly improved. After measuring, it seems there's no power going to the front speakers at all. Is there a separate fuse for the front speakers? (I haven't found one.) Where should I look for the problem? Why aren't the front speakers working? And why do the new rear speakers sound just as bad as the old ones with cracked surrounds? Thanks for any advice.

 

I would look for a short in the front speakers wiring. I suspect the audio system is overloaded by the short and causing distortion in the rear speakers.

 

Do you have the MODE set to REAR SPEAKERS?(fade front/rear)

The rear subwoofers are not speakers that have much of a frequency range.
The door speakers are the full range loudspeakers.
