Fuel fail reset
Hi I have 91 xj6 sovereign, with intermintent starting problem. For a while if you reset inertia switch it would start, but now that not working. When turned on I'm not hearing fuel pump kick on, wondering if fuel fail needs reset. Where is it? have the passenger side dash tore up and can't find it, Help!

Last night I ran wires directly from the battery to fuel pump and it did come on. I checked continuity to power wire it was good. So now I'm going to check ground today. I hope it is that. I followed threads and if not ground, I guess its time to take tank out again. I put a fuel pump in last fall and connectors looked good then but now?????? Wish me luck!

If you have the in-tank pump you need to check the o-ring at the bottom of the cannister. It's the most unusual o-ring you've ever seen. We haven't found an aftermarket supplier for them and Jaguar sells only as the complete unit for about $900. If the o-ring is nicked, torn, or lost integrity, then the fuel pump will physically run but won't create any suction to move the fuel.

Well as I was reading schematics i noticed that my relay should have a diode in it. I went and replaced my black relay with a blue one. Lo and behold fuel pump gave initial pulse, turned key and it started. Why did this work? Also is there a listing of what kind of relays go where? Thanks in advance.
