Fuel line access, 1994 xj6
Longer post. 1994 xj6. There are two lines that go into the bottom of the fuel tank on the 1994 xj6. The larger of the lines is disconnected at the bottom side. It has some o-rings around it, and appears to be just a "press" fit into something at the bottom of the tank. Is this a correct assumption? Is there any "easy" access to the bottom where this line goes? Looks to be a PITA. Very hard to see, much less feel where it goes. Was going to put in a fuel pump due to long crank times, but think I will wait. Also how does the smaller of the two lines disconnect from the bottom of the tank? Thanks, David.

Both lines have a small metal wire clip that keeps the pipe in place. The best way to remove the pipe is to rotate the clip 90 degrees and pull down on the pipe.
If you remove the clip it is harder to get it back in place and if you drop it sometimes it is lost forever in the suspension components. I lost a clip one time and gave up looking after a half hour and just made a new clip out of a wire keyring loop bent to the proper shape and diameter.
Rotating the clip will allow the pipe to come off and then you can rotate it back and 'click' the pipe back in place.

xj6 fuel line access, 1994
motorcarman.... Looks like I'll spend the better part of the day tomorrow trying to get that line back in. I don't know if the clip is still present or not. I hope so. I did cange the fuel pump. Not too bad, as someone had "made" an access through the rear seat and package shelf. But, they also butchered the container (module) that holds the fuel pump motor. The motor was connected to the fuel line and dropped into the container. Worked ok except for the long crank time.Had to prime three or four times, before the car would start. I'll have to get that large line connected before i try to start the car again. Thanks again, David.

Fuel line access, etc. '94 xj6
Today I removed and replaced the fuel lines that attach to the underside of the fuel tank. Not as bad a job as I had thought. Both lines had some places that allowed them to leak. These lines are braided metal with an outer rubber covering. I removed the lines, and cut the hose part from the metal connectors w/ a Dremel tool, leaving the hose barb on both ends to accept the new fuel line. Installed new high pressure fuel hose, and attached w/ good fuel line hose clamps (not those cheap worm-gear type). Re-installed the lines, checked for leaks, and pressurized the system. All is good, and no more long crank times. Thanks to all who provided information concerning the fuel lines. David.
