Default My pride and joy

Alright, so time to talk about my baby and my plans. I found a XJ40 out while walking and had decided it was time to fulfill my desire to own a Jaguar. After much searching and more searching, I found one I was ready to buy. I purchased my very clean 89 for a whopping $650 and runs, albeit with fuel in the oil. Car doesn't smoke at all so I highly doubt it's rings or anything like that. I'm gonna start with pulling the injectors and replacing the seals on each.
Here is my current plans and pics will follow:
Change the oil with Delvac 15W40 and a Mann filter
Auto trans service with Redline D4 ATF
Full tune up including cap and rotor
Replace driveshaft guibo
Replace front control and rear control arm bushings with Powerflex
Replace front end links with URO end links, prothane poly end link bushings, and powerflex sway bar bushings
Front and rear poly shock mount bushings
Custom exhaust with magnaflow mufflers
Custom intake with dry filter
URO upper and lower rad hoses, new tstat and Audi G12++ pentofrost coolant
Contitech belts
Victor Reinz valve cover gasket

So, anything I'm missing for now?

Sheesh! I think you've forgotten to include reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. Otherwise, spot on.

Keep up the good work, Matt...

Has to be a good buy at $650.

That looks like a comprehensive 'things to do' list. No, you've missed one - straighten the driver's floor mat.

What a great deal! You got a running Jag (and a clean one, no less) for not much more than scrap price. Congrats!

Looks great.

2 more things, sort out that seat belt thingummy jobbie, it might make driving easier.

and while you are under the rear check and adjust the handbrake linkage it looks to be slack? (from pic 2)

Haha nice eye in the brake cable. It's going to be undergoing a major inspection for sure and anything funky will be dealt with. Additionally I believe my fuel in oil situation is a stuck injector.

What a great find. Just out of interest I notice the door mouldings[rubbing strips] are set higher up the door than mine. I wonder if this a US specification?

Hmmm interesting? I'm not sure, I suppose it's possible we seem to get much different vehicle specs than across the pond.

Hi Matt, Check out the difference. I am not sure if these cars look better without the door rubbing strips. They do protect the doors from supermarket trolley rash however.

HI, These are metrics, 220/65 R390 97V. They are hard to find now in the UK and at anything from £150 to £290 per corner they are a tad expensive. Most people end up swapping for 15 inch wheels with imperial tyres. Metrics are still manufactured but in small batches I believe. Dave.
