Castor hydraulic system mineral oil is no longer available. I know I will have to DIY the dispensing tube. Wondering if Valvoline LHM Plus Hydraulic Oil, will work as an alternative. If not what will? TIA

 

The 1988/89 XJ40 should be fitted with a separate ATF reservoir for the PAS fluid.

The HSMO is for the SLS and power assisted brake system.

1990-1992 used HSMO for BOTH SLS and PAS.

1993/94 should revert back to ATF for the PAS.

 

As far as i understand atf and hsmo are of very close specification and probably can be used interchangeably, but for peace of mind use lhm+, it is fine, i've been using it for years without any problems
