Default Remove Hydr. Pump CBC5918

I'm going through my U.S. Spec 1990 Majestic with a plan to reduce, repair, upgrade fluid leaks and potential points of failure.
One of the items I'm looking at is the SLS hydraulic pump CBC5918. I would like to remove it entirely and replace it with a EAC3926
auxilliary shaft cover plate. Has anyone made this change on their car? Any problems, issues, concerns with making the change?
Thanks!

Every XJ40 4.0 I have ever converted to 'conventional' dampers has had the hydraulic pump removed as well as the solenoid block. Jaguar even sent out instructions as to the correct way to do this. Even a parts list for the conversion.

Thanks, my car still has the pump and the solenoid block. Whoever did the conversion (I have my suspicion) did a half a**ed job. I have a leak from the pump area. The leak is small but it's still a leak. I'll check for any TSBs, parts lists and so on for the conversion.
I have some other issues I want to take care of. I want to remove the oil cooler as well.

If your not into fabricating that block off plate for your hydraulic pump then just head over to your salvage yard and you can use the plate from an X300. It'll bolt right on,just don't forget the three bolts, they're shorter.

The reservoir is the only thing you will need to deal with. Blank-off the return line 'nipple' on the reservoir from the solenoid block and get a SINGLE hydraulic hose to the PAS pump.

I had that leak. It dripped onto my alternator belt and made my fine ride a squeally embarrassment. Oy! I took the pump off, removed the drive plate behind it, made a gasket and reassembled. I had forgot that happened....

I used a coffee can bottom once. I took a LARGE coffee can and cut the bottom out, trimmed it to the shape, drilled and bolted it to the engine. It just has to keep some dust/debris out.

I posted this on the XJ40 site when a member suggest that I save the parts when I remove them. I think this situation may become a very real problem for us "Old Jag" owners in the future. I fully expect to get my golden BB while I'm driving my Majestic so a good used parts supply is critical for me,as I posted.

"True, but it is very difficult to even give parts this old away and I don't want them cluttering up my garage forever.
I have a sizable stash of X300 parts I've been throwing in the trash because I can't even give them away.
I just chucked perfectly good ECU, TCU, body controller and lighting controller out because there is zero interest in them.
I have the complete ABS setup available, the controller wasn't working but everything else is good - includes an AJ16 intake manifold, brake booster, pedal box,
master cylinder and reservoir. I was thinking of converting my Majestic to the X300 ATE system. I don't know if it's worth the work. My Majestic has 95K on the clock, I add about 5K every year and I'm retired, I installed a new accumulator about 10K miles ago and I have a spare new accumulator in my parts drawer. Personally, I don't like ABS and would like to remove it from my car entirely replacing it with just the vacuum booster assisted brakes. Is it worth the work?
I have perfectly good door tread plates I can't give away, so I'll keep them for my Majestic.
Here in the States a few thousand of these cars were sold when new with just a handful still on the road and the junkers already broken for parts. My point; we should enjoy our XJ40s and lay in a good supply of certain critical used spares because these parts may very well become unobtainable because, with no demand, people are just going to throw them out."

Every time I visit the salvage yards (and that's almost every 2-3 weeks) I look for parts that can become troublesome for these cars, just so I have spares. I see so many get crushed with lots of parts that can be used for future repairs. Common repair parts can be items like crank sensors, ignition amplifiers, door lock mechanisms, overvolt relays, throttle bodies, body trim pieces, etc. Finding some of these items can be difficult in the coming years as these cars are becoming more scarce. I'd hate to be in a situation five years from now when I need something as simple as a door lock mechanism and have to pay someone $200 thru Ebay or something similar.

For sure, I have the X300 interior door latch trim, ash trays, some spare interior wood, trim and window switches in my parts drawer. I will take pretty much any XJ40 trim and mechanical pieces when I come across them.
