Default Replacing Sovereign Door Panels with VDP Panels

Hi: I believe the VDP front door speaker size is 5.25" vs the 4" on my Sovereign. I am thinking of swapping them to gain more front sound. I have a few questions:

1) Were the mounting clips spaced the same for 88-94?

2) Are the electrical connectors compatible?

Thanks, Ren

Not sure about the clip locations, but would plan on them being same, however I would be very surprised if any electric connectors match. Even the mirror and window switch plugs are different 92-94

Ah yes ...very different indeed - I replaced passenger side mirror on my 94 with one from Manwich's 92 "redd" car and the plugs were totally different ...even though I rewired the connectors and checked the operation before installing the mirror, if you want to adjust the up/down on my car you have to operate the left/right switch (and vice-versa)

I'll get to it one of these days I guess

Ren,

Aside from the possible electrical connector differences, the holes in the door metal to receive the door casing/interior trim panel/door card fasteners should all be in the same places, and if not you could always drill new holes if necessary. The female nylon "cowboy hat" fasteners and male "fir tree" fasteners tend to wear out and/or break when you pull them apart, so you may want to have some extras on hand before you do the swap.

Cheers,

Don
