Default Special Battery?

Since I've owned my car, I've replaced the battery once. I took the battery out, took it to Napa and they gave me a new one. Now, it needs to be replaced again, it just won't keep all it's charge anymore.
Where I live now, I have no auto parts store nearby, so I decided to call them up first to make they had it. I tried, Napa, Pep Boys, O'Reilly, Kragen, and no one has it. They all tell me to call the dealer because its some kind of a special battery.

Now, I know I can just go to one of these stores, bring my old battery in and they'll give me a new one that has the same specifications as the the one I brought in. Since its not the original anymore. But I'm just curious as to why they all tell me its special. No one shows them on their listing. Is it simply too old for them to still carry it? Or is there in fact something unique about the battery needed?

Battery's are all the same bud. Just get one that fits in your well. That's probably what they are talking about. Sometimes, the battery wont fit snugly in the battery well. In those scenarios, only the dealer provides the proper battery. I would get one with similar CCA amps and Amp-hour are the same.

Your battery should be 12V 66 Ampers as I recall .You can't fit any bigger battery due to insufficient room . So, nothing special any battery can fit but no bigger than 66

I had the same problem when I bought a new battery. I was told that if I bought a non-specified battery for the Jag, I would loose my warranty on this battery. I needed a battery so I purchased one that would fit the tray, and connections. Instead of the normal warranty of three years, they gave me only a three month warranty.
However, this battery lasted only six month! Would not hold a charge and did not pass a load test. This time Ibought a Delco battery that was listed for a Jag. I still need to charge this battery every three days if I don’tthe car wont start. This battery was tested and passed the test. The draw on the battery with the car parked and engine off is 0.3 volt. There seems to be a drain on the battery, perhaps from one of the computers. Any similar experience?

To be honest , despite new battery I have seen some XJ40s namely pre '90 model years with a system that locks battery . More explicitly when the system is activated by turning the the switch the battery becomesas if there was no battery inside the . So, it preventsbattery circuits or flow.
I think there should be something wrong with the electrical system with the most XJ40s [&:]

This current battery has actually been really loyal. Despite all I've put it through, I'm surprised it lasted the 2.5 years it did. Since the day I put that battery in, I had a 1000W Alpine V12 Amp with two Alpine Type S 12' subs. I was told to get a capacitor and never did. I would often play my music very loud on just the battery for an hour or two, then turn the car on for a few min, turn it off, and back on just the battery for another hour. This would continue an entire night. While driving I play the music loud, which noticeably decreases the charge on the gauge. This is why this battery problem comes with no surprise to me. I knew it was coming, now I hope I can find the same exact one, since it's been so reliable, and consider the capacitor this time.

We exclusively use Interstate batteries. We can't ship them because they are a "hazardous" cargo. Find an Interstate rep (most garages) and they can order one for you. Perfect fit.
