Dear All:

After 12 years, my XJ40 went to a new owner this weekend. I bought it from a friend and mentor who has since died, so the car had extra meaning for me. I am very sad to see it go, but with life, and work, and family, there is actually some relief in having one fewer thing to care about. And I did care for this car as best I could--something I could NOT have done without this forum. I am grateful to everyone, but especially to the guys (Don B, motorcarman, among others--you know who you are!) who give of themselves daily, literally over years, to share their wisdom and experience. Some of these guys, I suspect, no longer even have XJ40s themselves--just a love for the car and a desire to help others. That's a rare thing these days, and I don't take it for granted. I'm not a mechanic or even very mechanical; so I have gained far more than I've been able to give. Thank you all SO much for your time and help.

With cheer and blessings,
Scott
P.S. Please forgive a non-mechanical post in the forum, but I wanted to be sure the XJ40-ers especially received my thanks.

Cheers, Scott, and all the best to you. You were a caretaker who understood and valued a magnificent vehicle. I do hope it went to a very caring owner, which suspect it did. Be well.

Scott,

You were number 3780 to register out of the total 103214 members. Not many still around and posting after 11 years. Good to hear you enjoyed your XJ40 for as long and found the forum useful.

I thought the thread deserved a photo from your album.

Ah, Solent Blue, correct? That is my favorite color of XJ40.

Scott,

Thank you for taking such good care of your Jaguar. I'm glad your '40 found a new home, and we'll hope to see the new owner here on the forums.

And don't be surprised if you come across another Jaguar that you just can't resist owning!

All the best,

Don
