Default Two 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas Majestics

Saw this first of two Vanden Plas Majestics come up for sale in central Tennessee and thought "y'all" might be interested in having a look. The VIN, SAJMY1745LC623837, decodes as a genuine 1990 Majestic:

I have no affiliation with the seller, but since from time to time we get questions on the forum along the lines of "Is my Jaguar a Majestic?," I thought it would be worth grabbing the photos and posting them here for future reference. The Magnolia leather with Mulberry piping is perhaps the most unique and definitive detail. See further below for photos of yet another Majestic in stunning near-new condition:

I also ran across this stunning Majestic for sale in Quebec and advertised in Hemmings, at a claimed but believable 14,000 original miles:

Cheers,

Don

Thanks for posting these Don. The Regency Red color really works well on the XJ40 imho. Only 527 Majestics were built per according to a few sources I've seen, so you have to wonder how many are still on the road. Do you know any of the LWB Majestics from 1993-94 were imported to N. America? Wikipedia says 121 were built, but I've seen the number 171 also.

From Wikipedia:
A rare long-wheelbase model named the "Majestic" was produced in 1993 and 1994 (only 121 built).[4] These vehicles started life as a SWB body which was then taken away from the standard production line and stretched by Project Aerospace in Coventry, before being returned and fitted out by Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations.[5] This meant the Majestic carried a significant price premium over the standard models. There was also a limited edition (527 built) version on the regular wheelbase for the US market in 1990, called the "Vanden Plas Majestic". These cars featured special equipment and were all finished in Regency Red, except one example in black which was kept in the United Kingdom for the Prime Minister. A Majestic can be identified by the fourth letter of its VIN, which should be an "M".[6]

Hi Paul,

I agree that Regency Red is a great color on an XJ40. Our '93 VDP was a very similar color combination, Flamenco Red over Cream leather with Coffee piping, and I really loved it.

I have no idea how many of the LWB Majestics may have made it to the U.S.A. Since North America has historically been one of Jaguar's most important markets, we would have to think that some significant percentage of those cars were shipped and sold here, but even if that percentage were half, we'd still be talking about only 60 to 85 examples, and realistically it was probably fewer than half.

Cheers,

Don

That second one looks nearly mint! Thanks for posting these, and I'd be curious to see what either one sells for.
