Wheel Bearing Replacement

Wheel Bearing Replacement
Afternoon,
I've been told that all four of my wheel bearing's need replacing. I have a friend whom is a mechanic and he was the one who diagnosed the issue for me and I have now taken it to a Jaguar mechanic to be fixed.
I was just wondering what you guys think would be the average cost on my 1990 XJ40?
Would be helpful to have a ball park figure so I'm not having games played with me.
Thanks guys.

Mmmmm, all 4 wheel bearings, rather bizarre, even for a '40.
Front wheel bearings are same as Falcon, rears are Jag specific.
I see wheel bearing kits on "AU Ebay" regularly for about $40/wheel.
Labour is generally $100/hour, and I reckon the fronts would be 4 hours, and the rears, NO idea, never done them on the outboard brake cars, but the inboard versions are very time consuming, coz all the bits that need removing are HEAVY.
I had similar noises with the X300, and after days of diagnosis, turned out to be tyres, recently fitted Simex?, bugga. New set of boots from Bridgestone, silent as.
I had suspected them all along, and a set of wheels from another Jag fitted as a test run, sealed the decision in a heart beat.

I don't find it all that odd that bearings need replacing at all four corners. There's no mention of all four going bad *at the same time*. That would be a very strange thing, I agree.
The fronts can last virtually forever if they're cleaned and repacked with fresh grease every 30k miles or so. But this is often neglected. I've had to replace both sides on various cars over the years.
An owner can do nothing but hope on the rears, though, as there's no practical way to treat them to any periodic TLC. Fortunately the bearings are generously sized so they'll often soldier on long past the time when they should've been replaced. I've worked on several Jags with bad rear bearings, both sides, and the owner had no idea.
Cheers
