Did the Lattice wheels that were available on the later XJ-S cats, also an available wheel option for XJ-40's, without a special order? I'm considering replacing the multiple teardrop wheels on my 1991 Sovereign with the Lattice wheels... the purist in me cries blasphemy.
As far as I know....might be wrong.....the only XJ40s having the Lattice style wheel were the V12 models. There might well be market and model year variances, though.. Whether or not they could be 'special ordered', I dunno. They certainly could be dealer installed.
But, the point is, some XJ40s were indeed built with Lattice style wheels so you wouldn't be too badly sullied by using them.
Another possible way of assuaging any guilt over impurity is to (somehow) track down a Jaguar Accessories brochure from that era. If an "Official Jaguar Accessory" publication show Lattice wheels being offered for an XJ40, there's your exoneration !
According to jaguarclassicparts.com, Lattice wheels were available for the XJ40 in 8JX16" and 7JX16" sizes. The Lattice wheels for the XJ-S were available in 6.5JX15" and 7X16" sizes. Here are the part numbers:
Jagbro: Here's my '91 with lattice. This is how I purchased it. It is my belief that lattice wheels where non-special order for the XJS. My 1991 sales brochure show no lattice wheeled XJ6, Sovereign or Vanden Plas models, again just the XJS.
