XJ40 Cranks but no start.
1989 XJ40 Vanden Plas. I replaced the fuel pump as it was broken and am unsure what else to check. I've checked my spark plugs and making sure they're getting spark. I don't think there's an issue with my fuel injectors. Could it be timing? Is there a known common issue with these models that causes them to crank but not start? Thanks

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
Have you confirmed that the new fuel pump is working? A quick check is to turn the key to position II (Ignition ON) but do not start the engine. Listen for the fuel pump to run for a few seconds to prime the fuel system. If you don't hear it run, check the wiring at the fuel pump and test for control voltage while cranking the engine.
Another quick check is to watch the tachometer while cranking the engine. It should read about 200 rpm. If it reads 0, suspect your crankshaft position sensor.
Was the car running prior to the fuel pump failure?
