Default XJ40 repairs to date

Hi to all from New Zealand,It has been a productive couple of weeks doing some repairs on the XJ40.First I converted the headlights from single lights to dual,I think it looks better,it was also cheaper to get 4 lights and modules than one single light.Moving to the back I have just replaced the crossmember bushes the hard way,was easier to remove crossmember than to do them in place.next stage is replacing it all into the car, next week for that.Hopefully that will take care of the knocking in the rear, never ending on these great old girls, lots of fun tho.

Hi Cat owner,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

Congratulations on successfully converting your head lamps from rectangular to quad round - I personally prefer the quad lamp setup too, but you'll find that some of our members prefer the rectangular lamps. It's great that we have the option of personal choice.

Please let us know after you get the subframe reinstalled. I will be curious to know if it cures your knocking sound.

Cheers,

Don

Hi Don,will let you know after the weekend if the weather stays fine, can't get the jag under cover, may have to do the rear shock bearings too.The last owner had this for 10 years but left it in the shed so there were quite a few things wrong after sitting, nearly through them now,Cheers,Bob

Hi,I only changed the lights mainly because of the economics of it,I left the surrounds black and it looks a lot better than colour coded

Hi out there,I have now re installed the rear crossmember, but most of the noise is still there.Next job will be to remove the shocks and go from there, doing the bushes with the crossmember is way easier than in place, easy enough to get in and out, only took an hour to put in,more on this as I get into the shocks, bye for now

Hi - what year/vin is your car? These cars vary quite a lot year to year (especially in the rear suspension dept!)

Why not make a signature file and include the model details there?
