1987 xj6 jag no fuel to motor
My brother in law is trying to figure out in what order the wires go on the distributor cap for the correct firing as well as the rotating direction of the ignition rotor
(clockwise or counterclockwise)? He is computer illiterate so I am asking on his behalf. Thanks.

#1 cylinder being at the rear, the firing order is:
1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4
To find the position of #1 wire, put #1 cylinder at TDC (top dead center) by taking out the plug, and shining a flashlight into the plug hole. Crank the engine until the piston is at TDC. Then take off the distributor cap, note the position of the rotor, and that is where the #1 wire goes.
Determine rotating direction by seeing which way the rotor turns when rotating the engine with the cap off.
