1987 xj6 series 3 aka ken_jag
i just purchase a 1987 jag last week, cant wait to share pictures with ya. i been reading all threads in this forum about the car and yeah finally i get to own one. its nice to meeting ya in here and i have a lot to learn from u. i will upload pictures soon when i have time.

Welcome ! I just bought a series III a few months ago and I am still amazed how good these cars can be 30 years on (I have an '84 Vanden Plas) This brings my current Jaguar garage total up to 3. There must be something about insanity in there somewhere.
Go over to the "new members" part of the forum and introduce yourself there. The moderators will see you and start to give you the various privileges that help you on the board, ie ability to upload documents, download documents, etc
Read the stickies on the Series III at the top of the forum... there's loads of valuable info in there.
How is your cars idle ? is it smooth or lumpy ? (I'm currently in the middle of trying to fix mine) Also is your Heat & A/C working ok ? That is also a potential issue with the Series III

the cars idle is ok kinda lump but not too bad, ac works fine. havent try heat yet i probably dont need it cause i live in texas lol i have a lil struggle starting the car when its cold like i have to start it like 2 or 3 times, thinking the spark plugs or alternator? i just order spark plugs thinking to do an oil change and sparks plug soon

Sounds like a good place to start.....
The car does have various things to help it on cold start, ie an extra injector, so there could be more to it than spark plugs.
Is the car cranking fast enough but doesn't start ? or it's cranking slowly ? If its cranking fast enough but just not firing, I'd tend toward ignition system and the cold start system
