1988 XJS V12 HE - owners manual?
I see owners manuals for 150 bucks on eBay and I'm not ready for that. I just want to know what everything is supposed to do.
this thing has been apart and the guy that owned it wasn't very bright but thought he was. He must have had the center console off because the window switches are upside down and he has an aftermarket stereo in it. one of the decorative wood panels was probably replaced because it's a different shade. Barely noticed it
I never owned an XJ12 before so I'm not sure what everything is supposed to look like or act.
there's a convertible top, pretty sad shape, probably sat since new. I don't know if the frame is decent enough for me to purchase a new top and window for it because I'm not sure what I'm looking at. I don't know if I have all the parts. I do know that hard t-top unbolts somehow from the back.
does anybody have a PDF of the owner's manual?
I want to know if I'm servicing this car correctly also. I want to know what everything is supposed to do.
I used to be a Ford mechanic and now I'm an electrician and I have a lot of experience with electronics. I suspect there might be something with the illumination in my dash if it's not just old bulbs or corroded connectors or a bad ground somewhere. I have made my own circuit boards and dashboards for other cars before (Lincoln Mark VIII, upgraded to LED, silkscreened plastic white guages, cool font, etc), if there's some interest I might do that.
anyways it's great to be back after a woman totaled my S series 6 years ago (it was her second identical accident in a week, coasting along in a parking lot looking at something else)
Any tips for my sat-a-while 54000 mile XJ12 HE?
I think it's been screwed with a little bit.

Oh. I found this as well. Not so much "what does what" but more how it does it. Electrical schematics 75-88 XJS.
I don't have one of these, but I just finished transplanting the induction and EFI to a 74 series 3 e-type from an 88 XJS, I had to round up a bunch of XJS reference material to work it out.

thank you so much, I loved reading them! very informative.
If you go to this link, there are a number of documents to download.
The main one you need is The Book. It's for the XJ-S and was compiled from Jag-Lovers forums over many years.
It's called 'Experience in a Book' I have an XJ12 and this book has been very useful.
