Default 72 S1 Found, Let the Adventure Begin

Hi everyone! Been a while since I posted. Had to suspend the search for a rescue Jag when my Dad passed. Moved from Hampton, VA to Northwestern Iowa, little town of Emmetsburg. Quite a change!

Anyway, resumed the search a few months ago. I found a good candidate and pulled the trigger. It's a 1972 XJ6 S1 SWB. White, blue interior. Deal also included a 1971 parts car (missing engine and tranny). I'm excited!! Will be driving to Ohio to pick them up or if cost not to hi I'll hire a transport company.

Here's a picture of the 72

Let the adventure begin!!!

Looks good, nice lines on drivers side, even stance. Keep us informed as you get her on the road.

Looks good!

I love the S1's.

There's not a bad angle when viewing the car, and I love the traditional slab of wood dash.

Good luck with her,

Rob

According to Wikipedia, Emmetsburg had about 4000 people and is the county seat. I assume the line at the DMV to get it registered won't be too long. I was raised in just such a town - my parents moved there to raise 3 boys and dogs. Lots of country roads for test drives. Good luck with the project and let us know if you have any questions.

Drove 1400 miles and picked up the Cat Sunday/Monday. Next I'll be generating the first of many to-do lists.

Lovely looking motor car. Hope the resto goes well.
The Series one was released in Australia about the time I was conscripted into the Army. I ended up at Woodside Army Camp, in the Adelaide Hills & I remember following a brand new white S1 in my Cooper S, gliding along the winding roads, admiring its sexy lines & watching that rear suspension doing its fantastic work.
It does not pay to reminisce too much.............

I had one when they were the current model ............. that's looking less worn 48 years later than I do!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! First item on list...she won't start. Strange because I drove her onto the trailer, but she won't start...had to push her off the trailer. I have fuel to the carbs and its flowing. I only had a wiff of starting fluid spray but she stumbled, but did not start. I'll pick some more up at work tomorrow. Have battery charging overnight. Still smiling though!! LoL.

The smiling part helps. Can be mistaken for a grimace sometimes! Enjoy!

They always do that to the ones they like best; Tease you, that is.
This is merely part of the Bonding process. She has chosen you for special attention.
This is a great privileged not to be taken lightly.

So when I hit my head on the opened hood, is this really a "kiss"?

Yes it is. Because if she Really didn't like you, she would drop the hood on your head and cause serious injury.
