Hello,

​​​​​​When my car is stationary in drive the whole car shakes, when I put it into neutral or park it goes away. Has anyone had issues like this before?

not my '84 but it could be the transmission mounts deteriorated or gone, those are located in the transmission tunnel.

get the car on a lift and inspect the two side-mounts, there is one on each side of the transmission. They are a "pad" with rubber in the
center of two metal plates, they almost look like a brake pad.

there is a third "mount" which is a round rubber cylinder.

 

And if it is the rear transmission mount, check out my post from two days ago. I just did that job.
