Default 96 XJ6 Engine stutter?

Good day. I have an 96 XJ6. Recently put it on the road. Drove fine on way to work byt went to a carwash before work and it startted sputtering after the wash. So i figured something got wet. Let it dry all day and the drive home was fine until like 2 miles from home, When the engine started stuttering again. Now occasionally when i drive if i get over a certain RPM i lose all throttle. At first its 3000 rpm, then 2500 rpm and keeps falling to below 1500 rpm. Basically if i put the pedal all the way down it either revs up to that number then stops climbing or it goes up to that then jumps to a higher rpm but no throttle. I checked as many hoses as i could for leaks but none were found. My father seems to think its the spark plug wires or coils getting wet but i dont see that happening with them onto of the motor under a gasketed cover. Not alot of moolah in my pocket so the cheaper the fix the better. Trying to make this my daily driver.

Hi

I suggest re-posting this in the "X300" sectiopn....which is correct for your model. Or perhaps one of the admins will see this and move it

Cheers
