Default Auburn LSD swap

Hello! Looking for some detailed information to help change out my carrier for an Auburn unit. Currently have 4HU Salisbury 1984 unit with 3.058 gears. So far I have been able to find the basics for this conversion, but could use a little more help....

1) Bearings/races Is it easier to get a kit (Yukon YKD44-JAG or YK D44-19?) or pick up individual parts. Will need shims and I believe a crush sleeve(?)

2)Can I use my current gear set? This is where I haven't been able to find specific information. It seems the carrier deck height is a little taller (thicker?) with the new Auburn unit.

Is this typical?

Hope I'm describing this correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I did it back in 2012. Worked out fine, still have it. The Auburn 5420112 is the carrier I used with standard Dana 44 side bearing and the existing shims. I used an extra set of side bearing and opened them up so they would easily slide on and off for a proper setup routine.

Thanks for the encouragement!
I'll try the open bearings and see how it goes
As far as reusing the 3.058 gear is there anything I need to watch out for? Meaning is the difference in deck height/thickness going to be an issue?

Not sure. I did it with a 3:31. I dont know fore sure if the offset will be right. No guts no glory. Order from Summit, they've got a liberal return policy.

The part I was concerned about was the difference in where the deck ends up when the new lsd unit was next to the Jag unit
Fortunately the measurements that actually matter are from where the carrier bearings seat to where the ring gear seats
These measurements actually end up very close!!
But I may need to use a spacer for the axle hubs?
Any information how to do the spacers would be greatly appreciated

Now for the other issue
When the diff got taken apart the pinion bearings got "lost"....
I'm hopefully going to use my existing pinion and ring gear
Would anyone have the original bearing/race# for the inner and outer set?
Should I use the number stamped on the pinion to get the right part?
When I look up the parts on Summit's site they have a different bearing/race# than what I could find from past swaps as far as a lists for parts (but these are different maybe due to changing ring and pinions?)

If I use a dana ring & pinion made should I still use the pinion bearings made for the GKN?
