Bob Knight & John Egan, the men who saved Jag in the darkest hours...
Nice illustration of Bob Knight, who oversaw creation of the independent suspension and the XJ6, and fended off British Leyland until Egan arrived, then retired exhausted.
And an interesting Philip Porter video interview of Egan talking about the US market in the early 80's, I'm going to read his book

my point is / was:
John Egan DID, and he went over them over and over, and went to the suppliers and told them: You give me 150% quality or I take the business elsewhere. No more junk.
And they responded. That's why the 1984 and 1985 XJ-6 are still reliable. Well at least mine still is.
Then came Aston Martin and stole Egan from Jaguar in 1985 and quality went down again, or so they say. I don't know but from what I hear in these forums, 1986 and 1987 XJ-6 aren't exactly "premium".
so there, Counting Parts instead of Counting Cars.
