Default Brake pedal/brake light adjustment question

I replaced the brake light switch on my 82 XJ6 due to the one on it being faulty. I have noticed that after pressing the brake pedal, unless I physically lift the pedal back up, the brake lights stay on. I am assuming it is an adjustment of some kind?? If so, what exactly do I adjust?

Thanks

BOB

Bob, loosen the hold down bolt to adjust the switch...it swings in an arc. A helper watching the brake lights can tell you when you've hit the sweet spot....where the lights are "just" off when the brake pedal is released.

Cheers
