Default Castrol Dexron III

Hi all!!

2 questions for the group

1 - Any qualms using the castrol Dex/merc for steering fluid? I believe its dexron 3 (see pic attached)
2 - Can one mix a different brand of fluid to the one already in the reservoir to top up etc?

Many thanks!

I wouldn't hesitate, Chris. That stuff should be fine.

To be honest, when it comes to P/steering I just grab what ATF is closest. A long time ago I found myself with a big over-supply of Type F so I used it in P/steering systems for years....even though Dexron was called for. If something bad was supposed to happen I never heard it, felt it, saw it, or smelled it

Cheers

You might consider Prestone for European cars, widely available in AutoZone, etc.

Prestone steering fluid

Post lost???

Me and the "new" scroll ?

I use ATF. Why, because I have it. A few ancient cans. needed an ancient can stabber to open the can and the opener has a handy spout as well !!
In the past, I have used dedicated PS, when my Jeep blew out a hose.

Jaguars are European, mostly. The PS pump is pure GM!!!

Just my view, I see little benefit in A PS. Seals in the rack, just maybe.
