Default Caught in the rain!!!

I cannot stand driving her in the rain!!! Wipers suck! Defrost is hit or miss, and the extra power she now has makes takes a little finesse to get her moving when roads are slick!!

and of course I had just washed her too!!!!

I know, no real news s or information in this thread, just a little venting!! lol.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled day!!! Carry on!

There must be a way to make those wipers wipe faster.

Maybe do Dave's 4 relay mod ?

Pantograph-based wipers cope with any rain storm, but cable-based wipers don't.

Since Aquapel doesn't sell to the public anymore, I recommend
Glaco Soft99 rain repellant Glaco Soft99 rain repellant
. It reduces the amount of work your wipers need to do.

I don't think it is an issue of drag between the wiper blade and the glass, although I am sure drag contributes to the problem; it is an issue of power at the wiper motor.
The wipers in my 1965 S type are a lot faster and I use the same Bosch wiper blades as in the XJ-6. Same cable system, but a lot faster. Unfortunately the Lucas DR3 motor of the S type is a two-speed motor unlike the XJ-6 motor which has the interval feature.

I find that Rain-X does a good enough job, but it does require a bit of Forward Movement for best results.
Faster the better!!
(although if there's a cloud in the sky Nix stays in bed!)

Sometimes cleaning and lubricating the cable drive and the two gearboxes will make a difference.

If not, then add the relays.

Cheers
