I'm finally getting down to second level problems and the touchy window switches is first on my list.

Wondering how to get at them and what to use the disassemble, clean and lube the switches?

Also, one of the window switches on the ski slope seems broken. Can I swap it for one on the rear of the console?

 

After posting this, I see that there are new aftermarket switches out there for about $10 each. Wondering if I'm better off with these or cleaning the originals.

Most of the time OE parts are better quality but occasionally the aftermarket stuff has an improved design and actually work more reliably than the original parts. Wondering if these new switches might fall into this category.

Also, is the sunroof switch the same as the windows switches?

 

yes to everything, a new switch will be better no matter if OEM or Aftermarket, and the original switches were not a Jaguar product but a Lucas product, and Lucas made products for every British car manufacturer. So for $10.00 each new aftermarket or reproduction switch, I'd buy 4 and keep them handy.

the only different switch is the Master On-Off switch located at the top center of the ski slope, all the other 6 are identical.

how to get to the ski slope switches? remove the center console arm rest/Lid, then remove the plastic tray, then you can see the rear of the ski slope and you pull the plug (no pun intended) behind each switch, then you push out the switch in question by grabbing it from the top and bottom to fold the tabs inwards until it comes out.

very easy. I prefer doing one switch at a time for obvious reasons.

to remove the tray's Lid Catch, you need to pry it out very carefully, otherwise you can easily crack the tray. Also you can try to wrap thin fishing wire around it, to pull it out. Or try to push it out from below, but I've cut myself trying to do that, there are razor thin edges in the console's metal frame.

if you break the original Catch, go to any Maytag Appliance store and buy a Dryer Door Catch Kit, same part except for color.
