Um, while a member or 2 here may actually own an XKE, you'll have better success asking in the XKE section.

This is the Xj6 Series section.

An aside Elinor,

If you look closely at the rear 3/4 area where the flank or' hip' kicks over the rear wheel of the xj6 you will see a very interesting similarity with the same area of an xke.

An aspect of the xj6 which was kept from an earlier design brief for a four door xke but which ended up morphing into the xj6.

So although a member or 2 may own an xke here, we all have a bit of xke in our pride and joys.

Cheers,

Nigel

Sorry, Nigel, I'm not seeing it.
The closest I can come is the rear bumper wrap around, especially on Series 2, but other than that, the similarity you mention escapes me.

I'm struggling a bit as to how to phrase my post and not offend.

But, here I go.

The hind quarters on each are nicely tucked in. Side to side, top to bottom.

AHA!!
It's all clear to me now! Thank you, Carl!
It's a Guy Thing!
Also probably explains why Guys to completely Bonkers over an XKE and they nearly turn my stomach, for reasons which are not appropriate to post here!

The rise at the hip (right over the rear wheel arches) is a signature Jaguar design cue. I read somewhere long ago that Jaguar intended it to emulate a big cat with "haunches loaded" and ready to pounce. Maybe guys just see something more evocative in it!

It's on most models, some more obvious and others like the XJ's are more subtle. The only models I personally can't see it on are S type (1960's) and XJS. It carries over to the F Type (very clearly), but no other new generation models - maybe that's why the current offerings do nothing for me...
