Any collective wisdom, on the chrome handle thing designed by Satan and impossible to install 96% of the time without harm.

 

Hi,
1 Slide the chrome finisher piece up on the handle as far as it will go without damaging the covering.
2 Place the metal plate over the bolt with the bent up wings facing up and away from the door handle
3 Put end of door handle over bolt and install lock washer & nut
4 Slide finisher down handle and snap over wings on metal plate

I remove the 3 screws underneath the pocket first and the one under the armrest allowing some movement in the holding slot. Then using a plastic panel tool pry it off carefully. Photo attached shows the reversal install
